Darker mornings and warmer nights
A blackout lining cuts the light coming in, and interlining adds an extra layer of warmth and drape for winter nights. Hang the pole 15 to 20cm past the frame on each side, so the curtains clear the glass when open and overlap it when closed. Choosing a style for a calm bedroom
Floor-length curtains make a room feel taller and more finished, but if there is a radiator under the window, sill length keeps the heat in the room. Pencil pleat gives a relaxed, cottage feel; pinch pleat looks more tailored. Soft florals suit a cottage-style room, and plain velvets and linens feel calm and modern; see our floral curtains. Hold your samples up under the bedside lamp too. A warm cream or blush looks lovely lit from inside on a winter evening, while a cool grey can feel chilly after dark.
