BEDROOM BLINDS
Bedroom blinds have two jobs: privacy whenever you want it, and a room dark enough to sleep in. You will find blackout fabrics here in neat rollers and softer Roman blinds. Every bedroom blind is made to measure, so it fills the window properly, which is the best defence against early morning light creeping round the sides.
Light at 5am in June
In summer the sun is up before most of us want to be. If your bedroom faces east, a blackout fabric is close to essential, and an exact fit on the wall, overlapping the frame by at least 10cm each side, cuts the light leaking past the edges. A west-facing room gets the evening sun instead, which matters for children who go to bed while it is still light. See our blackout blinds for the full choice, and our blind measuring guide for how to measure an exact fit.
Making the blind part of the room
Bedrooms are where people tend to be braver with fabric. A Roman in a soft floral or designer print can tie in with the bedding and cushions, and Cath Kidston blinds suit a cosy, cottage-style room. If you would rather keep it calm, a plain blind in a muted shade lets the bedding take the attention. It doesn't need to match the curtains; picking out one colour usually looks better than identical fabric. A blackout blind with curtains over it gives the darkest room of all, and our bedroom curtains are made for that.
